On the morning of Saturday, June 4th, I did 865 push-ups in one hour. Not my typical weekend workout.
I wasn’t alone. There were about a hundred of us on the Levitt Pavilion lawn in Westport pumping out pushups for the 7th annual Push Against Cancer. A record turnout! Together, we raised over $75,000 for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp – the organization founded by Paul Newman that offers special experiences to children battling serious illnesses. The challenges these kids face are nothing compared to an hour of pushups.

Flash back a month or so ago when I learned that my good buddy and trainer Andy Berman, owner of Mental Grit Fitness, was organizing this big-hearted event. I knew I wanted in. Sure, I’d do the push-ups and raise funds, but I knew we could offer more. I barely got the words out, and the MillerSmith team stepped up to create an award-winning social media campaign as well as supporting graphics for signage and t-shirts for the event. Knowing that we helped contribute to the success of the event can be described in one word – awesome!
